Welcome to London D30
London Senior Games - LSG - now also known as London 55+ Games, are offered annually in Summer and Winter. More than 30 one-day tournaments are held – individual & team sports such as pickleball, badminton, slo-pitch & hockey, as well as social games like shuffleboard, crokinole, euchre & 8 Ball – something for everybody aged 55+.
Going strong since 1985, thanks to the efforts of a wonderful group of volunteers and with the very generous support of the City of London Recreation Department, we continue to offer ways for older Londoners to stay active and meet new friends. Events are held all over the city – accessible to all.
We offer a full slate of events for the London Summer & Winter Games 2024. Many participants will go on to compete in the South West Regional Games in July.
We are always open to new ideas and new volunteer Board members.

Like Us on Facebook: London Senior Games
New memberships and renewals begin on April 1st each year.
After that, most of our local events are free (except 8-ball, bowling & golf). We encourage participants to sign up for as many activities as they like, regardless of their experience. Some events are more competitive than others, but it is a great way to try new sports like lawn or carpet bowling in a welcoming environment. We are also open to suggestions for new events.
We are very pleased to be part of the large network of districts forming the Ontario Senior Games Association – as London District 30. We run all of our events according to the rules and policies of OSGA so that our district winners qualify to represent London to compete in the bi-annual Ontario 55+ Games. The next OSGA Summer Games will be held in Aug 2025 . The next OSGA Winter Games will be held in Feb of 2026. Some Londoners have gone on to participate in the Canada 55+ Games, too. They will be held next Aug 2024 in Quebec City.

Sponsors
Thank you to our 2023 Sponsors!
LSG Announces Gold Sponsor
London Senior Games is delighted to announce that Sifton Properties Limited is a Gold Sponsor.
SiftonRetirement Living by Sifton (Sifton) has generously offered to become our “Awards Sponsor”, committing to $6,000 annually for five years commencing in 2023 to cover the expense of awards to participants. In addition, Sifton will host annually at minimum two events at their facilities at both our summer and fall games and support the promotion of all London Senior Games events.
Sifton offers seniors vibrant retirement lifestyle opportunities with the choice of Retirement Residence living or Retiree Apartment Rentals. Operating in London, Waterloo, Mississauga and Dorchester, Sifton’s Retirement properties are focused on providing area seniors with the highest quality wellness services, dining experiences and engaging social events and activities.
London Senior Games’ objective is to enhance the physical and mental well-being of seniors in our community, to provide friendly competition, create friendships and have fun. So, we are proud to be aligned with an organization which shares our focus on the well-being of Seniors 55+. Together, we believe we can make a notable difference in our community. We look forward to a long and creative partnership with Retirement Living by Sifton.
New sponsor - Chartwell
Chartwell, our first sponsor of 2023 has generously contributed $1,000 towards London Senior Games 2023 operating costs. In addition, Chartwell hosted our Bid Euchre and Cribbage events at our 2023 Summer Games and provided posters to promote our games to our 55 + community in the City of London.
Chartwell, through its two London locations, offers elegant, well-established retirement residences ideal for retirees searching for independent living services in a quiet suburban neighbourhood. They are known for their excellent amenities, enriching activities, and providing personalized, à la carte care services that empower seniors to age in place if their needs change over time.
Londoners compete in Canada 55+ Games
Aug 23-26
Londoners who qualified through previous Ontario 55+ Summer & Winter Games, finally had a chance to compete on the national stage at the 2022 Canada 55+ Games in Kamloops, BC.
They joined more than 2700 athletes from all 13 territories and provinces.
The oldest competitors were 92 and 94 - both competing in Track & Field, believe it or not!
We all had a great time and we came home with a total of 6 medals in Hockey, Badminton & Tennis.
Here is the link to the Kamloops website: https://www.kamloops55games.com/
The next Canada 55+ Games will be held in Quebec, QU in 2024.
Participants registered on their own under the OSGA umbrella. A total of 26 events were offered - mainly summer activities, but also hockey & curling, as well as Bridge, Cribbage & Scrabble, plus the local favorite - Dragon Boat Racing. There were more events and age divisions than we are used to, such as Track & Field (running & throwing, etc). Pickleball was held outdoors and offered both skill level and age divisions.
Participants had to arrange their own transportation to Kamloops and accommodations there. But Air Canada and West Jet both made sure we arrived with baggage & Kamloops has way more hotels than you would expect for a city of 70,000 people.
A highlight of The Games was the Opening Ceremonies with a parade of the provincial delegations with their flags and colours - Ontario's team wore red golf shirts.
The Games provided shuttle service for all events and the evening entertainment. They provided a light lunch at the Opening Ceremonies and a nice dinner at the Closing Ceremonies. There were also pay-as-you-go concerts on the Wed & Thurs nights by Shred Kelly & Barney Bentall.
Here are the results we know about:
Badminton - W70 Gold - Nancy Alway with partner
Mx70 Silver - Nancy Alway with partner
M65 Silver - Gary Thompson with partner from Toronto
Ice Hockey W60 Gold - Kim Benke & Zak Griffith with The Legends
Tennis - W65 Silver - Catherine Jonkhans & Myrna Gomez
M55 Silver - Tongshui Cui & Hui Zhu
